I have been teaching in the Ventura Unified School District for close to 20 years and have been involved in the Arts and Career and Technical Education the entire time. I have taught art both in the private and public school system.  I received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration (with distinction) from Cal State University Northridge.

I also have Career and Technical Education Credentials and a CLAD Credential, which allows me to teach students whose first language is not English.

Prior to my work in education, I worked for several years in private industry including, but not limited to:  Health Care, Hospitality, Retail and various office occupations.  I also published my own arts newsletter for several years, while teaching art in private schools and for various art centers.
This has allowed me to bring a combination of real world experience into the classroom in order to better prepare my students for higher education and/or the world of work. During my years at Ventura Unified  I have taught at the middle school, high school and adult education levels.  During that time I opened and ran a Career Center, taught art, Work Experience Education, computer applications, digital photography and advised yearbook and newspaper.

I believe in giving back to my community in a variety of ways.  I am a volunteer for the Ventura County Fair, VUSD Grad Nite, my home church and most recently, the FIRST Robotics Regional Competition, held each year at Ventura College.
